The International Degrowth Conferences for Ecological Sustainability and Social Equity take place every second year. They are initiated by Research and Degrowth (R&D) and the Support-group who after each conference launch a call for the next conference. Conferences 2020
In 2020, two Degrowth Conferences will take place:
> The 7th International Degrowth Conference in Manchester, titled “Building Alternative Livelihoods in times of ecological and political crisis” will take place on the 1-5 September 2020. It will be the first ever Degrowth and International Society for Ecological Economics joint conference. More information about the calls for participation, the deadlines, the registration, and the programmes will be published later.
> Preceding the international conference in Manchester, a thematic conference titled “Degrowth Vienna 2020: Strategies for Social-Ecological Transformation” will take place from May 29 to June 1, 2020. This conference will focus on strategies and new ways for social change in cooperation with scientists and civil society actors. You can find out more about the conference here.
Conferences 2018
In 2018, three Degrowth Conferences took place:
> The 6th International Degrowth Conference in Malmö, Sweden, titled “Dialogues in turbulent times” took place from August 21-25.
> The First North-South Conference on Degrowth was held in Mexico City from 04-06 September.
> A post-growth conference supported by various stakeholders (Members of the European Parliament from different political groups, academics, NGOs and unions) took place in the premises of the European Parliament from 18-19 September
