At Research & Degrowth International we are looking to expand our communications team!

Hours: 16h-22h/week

Salary: 1.090-1490€ gross/month

DESCRIPTION:

At R&Di we are looking for a new person to join the communications team. Someone who is proactive, able to work in a horizontal team and enthusiastic to expand the degrowth movement. This person will build a press media presence, help develop a communications strategy and support social media and website content creation.

TASKS:

• Press office: Write press releases, coordinate media coverage and build a network of journalists and media outlets to disseminate degrowth values and policies, and to promote the association’s activities.

• Communication strategy: Support with the elaboration of a communication strategy for the association, taking into account a) its political objectives and the activist nature of its mission and vision; b) its mix of education and advocacy projects; c) its mix of target groups and languages.

• Social media: Support with social media content creation on R&Di’s activities, dissemination of degrowth values and community engagement (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon, TikTok, Substack).

• Website: Support with website maintenance, design improvement and blog publication.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with writing press releases and working in a press office.

• Experience with activist/political communication: experience with managing external outreach and communication within an activist collective or a political organization.

• Highly valued knowledge of basic website design and maintenance (WordPress).

• Highly valued audiovisual production skills (experience with design tools like Canva, or video/photo/design Adobe editing tools is a plus).

• Degree in Communication, Public Affairs, Journalism, Photography or Videography is an asset.

• Strong writing and editing skills ideally in English, Catalan and Spanish.

• Political Ecology, Degrowth, Environmental Justice: Interest in degrowth both as an academic theory and as a movement (e.g. interest in engaging in with other degrowth collectives such as IDN and other relevant activist organizations).

• Ability to work in a team, meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects.
